Eddie

For some who have come
they cannot pass the door
they spy at the salts and lavendar-
or the broom as it sweeps the floor.
The candles as they glow
my table that spread a charm
speaks a different message to them
as if unfamiliar things will do harm.
-but they cannot pass the door.

But to others who come in as friends-
it's a home away from home
no more need to search and worry
no more need to stray or roam.
They find slow and easy comfort
solace and peace and rest-
no judging hearts- no drama here
Just smiles and acceptance, at best.

And as if in quiet example,
we found a visitor today-
he came to us in answered call
in a specific, yet casual way.
His look is a simple joy
a purr and and a hug he'd let
he came to our door and simply said,
"Are you familiar with me yet?"
