Holidays

So what are you doing for Christmas? I am excited, thought we'd be spending it quietly at home and suddenly plans change- now we are traveling to see uncles and aunts and cousins and spend time together the old fashioned way- around a huge table, the kids all running around like crazy, decorations everywhere, whispers of santa claus and excitment for new baby's to come. My kids will experience the kids table, and all the cousins.-something they have not been to in over 5 years. everyone will look different, my uncle will look like grandpa did i am sure- I am excited. it's going to be fantastic!

bedtime stories

Every have a bedtime story repeated so much that years later you can still repeat it from memory? I do,did, still do... can't think of one?

 "Twas the night before Christmas....
and all through the house ...
not a creature was stirring...
not even a mouse....

aspens

In the aspens

I can hear them breathe
Sighing within the lightest breeze
Shimmering a dance
Amongst the trees

We are one

I stand still and tremble
They speak within the slightest air
Whispers in the silence
Quaking a message of love and care

We are one

Their strength resounds upon the hill
The tiniest touch upon the white bark
Can shine with purity and the hope
A brilliance of strength it does empart

We are one

Rising from the depths of dark
First From ashes do they reach
With the will and strength of the phoenix
They move to grow, and darkness breach!

Oh mother earth,
 They softly sound
We are one
We  all abound

Blessed be this lonesome start
Rising from the centuries old
Their breathe I hear
 It's message is bold!

 We are one

As I stand, and grow to be
Thank you, mother, for allowing me to see
I have come to stand amongst these trees
Oh blessed be, for I can hear them breathe!

We are one

Habi- thoughts

It's a quiet morning and I am catching up a bit on the computer and finding that my mouse keeps sticking... mouse troubles, haven't had to deal with those very much. Then I had a whacky thought- more like a memory of mice, actually hamsters- does anyone remember those old habi-trails the hamsters had? where they easily used to chew their way through? That must have been back in the 70's or early 80's and mom's everywhere were screaming in the kitchens when they spotted the loose hamsters scurrying about. Everyone who had one back then had to deal with at least one break out. LOL
But the hamsters are so cute. Especially when they stuff their cheeks so full they look about as wide as they are long. How do they hold it all? :)
Back to this silly computer mouse, looks like I'll be needing a trip to the electronics department soon for a new one. Can't dismantle it and clean the ball like the old ones, no this is laser or optics or some special thing that just glows at me and says- "no you can't fix me!" LOL

I recall
meadows filled with wild flowers
the hum of beehives
 the crackle of the skies
thunder under my feet
black sand on grey days
black waters so deep
blue skies
the smell of fog
the stillness of snow falling

and to top off my beautiful day i am watching a live feed of the solar eclipse in easter island. It is gorgeous. just got done watching it in french polynesia and now it will be appearing in tahiti next. easter island totality follows after that. How gorgeous!

Happy fourth!

Happy Fourth of July!!!!!!!!!!!
Today's my birthday,as my friend said, I should hit the bars tonight and declare I'm 21, cause that's half my age. LOL I don't think I could pull it off! But it might be fun.
Hope everyone is having a fun, happy holiday!!!!!

Parsley sage, rosemary, and thyme.... LOL funny how a song can last in memories for so many years. Music can be truly timeless. I love it.

Well, I watched the food channel and actually watched my first Julia Childs show where she taught everyone how to succeed at a "fabulous" outdoor BBQ, in it she explained how to make homemade Pita bread and she ended the show with a quip, "Once you eat these you'll never want the store bought rubber ones anymore" Sooo yesterday being slow as it was I decided to try her recipe and sure enough!!!! They were a wonderful success and I will never compare them to store bought again! Fun to make and a success throughout the entire family! So cool! I highly recommend them if you have the time!

Saturday symposium

Wow - been listening to Nickelback this morning and you'd think someone turned on the emotional gysers. I feel like an idiot, but hey, I guess it has to hit everyone at some point. :) So many things I wish I could have done. Most of the time I never allow my self to sit and think about them and other days I have trouble letting them go.
so here's a poem I wrote, hope you like it.

rivers flow
creeks collide
pebbles move
across a mountain side
time drifts
an endless spin
moves around the earth
and back again
we are but one
breathe of a tree
that will see more
than you or me
we are a drop
 in the endless sea
where mother weeps
and her children dream.
